Getting your player ready...

When Troy Tulowitzki essentially became a Rockie for life last winter, he stressed how important it was for him to become a bigger part of the Denver community.

He has been a key figure in Wins 4 Kids, growing bad hair for a good cause to raise money for The Children’s Hospital and The Special Olympics. The initiative has raised more than $25,000.

Today, he was recognized for his work, named one of six finalists for the Marvin Miller Man of the Year Award. Tulowitzki joined the Yankees’ Dave Robertson, the Mets’ David Wright, White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko, the Cardinals’ Adam Wainwright and the Rangers’ Michael Young.

“It’s an honor to be a finalist but nothing is better than helping and putting a smile on someone’s face that’s in need,” Tulowitzki told The Post today.

Miller is the founding executive director of the Players Association. The award recognizes a player “whose on-field and off-field performance most inspires others to higher levels of achievement by displaying as much passion to give back to others as he shows between the lines on the baseball diamond.”

Tulowitzki will fly to the Milwaukee with the Rockies today. He has missed two of the last three games with tightness in his left hip and remains uncertain about when he will play again.

“I’m still sore. I will know more (Tuesday),” Tulowitzki said.
