Adams County commissioners announced Wednesday a 30-day suspension on county-paid carwashes after a news report highlighted billing irregularities.

A report by CBS4 showed county vehicles were being cleaned at a carwash owned by the county surveyor, Tim Thoms, despite the lack of a contract. County vehicles were also being washed at another carwash where billing records showed an unexplained spike in activity in the first three months of this year.

The commissioners suspended the carwashes to give the county time to draft new rules governing them.
