The Rockies’ 2012 road to redemption begins in Houston and ends in Los Angeles.

In between the schedule features an American League West flavor and a home opener on April 9 against the rival Giants.

The Rockies begin their season on the road against the Astros on April 6. They return for a nine-game, 10-day homestand against the Giants, Diamondbacks and Padres. There is an off day April 10 as a concession to inclement weather.

The interleague schedule brings AL West teams to Coors Field: the Mariners (May 18-20), Angels (June 8-10) and Athletics (June 12-14). The Rockies play the Tigers, the lone AL Central team on the interleague grid, at Comerica Park June 15-17 followed by the Rangers in Arlington the next weekend June 22-24.

Other highlights include the Rockies’ first trip to the to-be-renamed Miami Marlins’ new downtown ballpark May 21-23. The Rockies finish the first half with a seven-game trip through St. Louis (four games) and Washington before the July 10 All-Star Game in Kansas City.

Seventeen of the Rockies’ last 20 games are against NL West opponents, save for the final three home games against the Cubs Sept. 25-27.
