A woman accused of causing a crash that killed five members of a Thornton family faces arraignment Nov. 2.

Monica Chavez, 34, faces seven felony counts stemming from the Feb. 17 crash that killed Randy Stollsteimer, 34; his wife, Crystaldawn, 31; and their three sons, Sebastian, 12, Darrian, 9, and Cyrus, 7.

Prosecutors alleged that Chavez ignored a doctor’s orders not to drive until she was treated for a seizurelike episode in 2006.

Chavez appeared in Adams County Court on Friday, where she was advised of her arraignment date.
