Every year for the past five, Columbine High School has been the place to start one Sunday morning in September.

A couple thousand people rode Sunday in Emily’s Parade, the sixth annual event held to benefit the I Love U Guys Foundation created after the shooting at Platte Canyon High School and the death of Emily Keyes.

“It’s amazing,” said John-Michael Keyes, Emily’s father. “The support of the biker community is humbling.”

The foundation educates schools about safety and provides materials to help with emergency response.

About 800 Colorado schools have adopted the four-step emergency protocol (the Standard Response Protocol) that helps students, teachers and first responders in case of a crisis. 9News
