NEW YORK — The newly reopened September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of $2.8 billion starts taking applications today. The fund is set up to help people who became ill after working at the site of the World Trade Center and others whose sicknesses can be tied to the site. Residents, workers and others can apply, including those whose claims to the first fund were denied. The deadline to apply is Oct. 3, 2013.
