ATLANTA — Alabama asked a federal court Tuesday to let the state enforce much of its strict law targeting illegal immigration.
Alabama officials said in arguments that the U.S. Justice Department and advocacy groups failed to demonstrate that enforcing the law will cause irreparable harm. The Justice Department and the advocacy groups have until this morning to file a response.
The court may decide on issuing a preliminary injunction.
