Two large law firms — including one with 90 lawyers in Colorado — said Wednesday that they will merge Jan. 1.
Minneapolis-based Faegre & Benson, which has offices in Denver and Boulder, will combine with Indianapolis-based Baker & Daniels.
The combined firms will have 770 lawyers and 45 consultants.
Faegre & Benson has 450 lawyers with offices in Colorado as well as Minneapolis, Des Moines, Shanghai and London. It employs a total of 180 in Colorado.
Baker & Daniels has 320 lawyers and 45 consultants with offices in Indiana, Chicago, Washington, D.C., and Beijing.
Andrew Humphrey, managing partner of Faegre & Benson, said the firm will continue to expand in Colorado.
Humphrey, who will be the managing partner of Faegre Baker Daniels, said the merger was done with clients in mind.
“Both firms identified strategic expansion as important to continue providing the high-quality services and expertise required by our clients,” Humphrey said. “And that remains our focus: meeting the needs of our clients.”
