Getting your player ready...
Despite unemployment that hovers above 9 percent, there is an acute shortage of professionally trained truck drivers in the United States. According to Bob Costello, chief economist for the American Truck Association, “We are estimating that there is an approximate shortage of 130,000 drivers at this moment. Every day, I am hearing from carriers that they cannot find enough quality drivers.”
In order to help fill this shortfall, five of the nation’s largest trucking companies have decided to partner with United States Truck Driving School in Denver. Their goals are to pre-hire, train and graduate 300 new truck drivers before the end of the year.
To kick off this major recruiting campaign, on Wednesday, Oct. 19, the largest Trucking Career Fair will be held at US Truck Driving School’s Denver Training Center, located at 8150 West 48th Ave. Wheat Ridge, CO 80033 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.. US Truck’s truck driver training facility is the largest training center of it’s kind in Colorado, and has the capacity to train more than 30 new drivers per week.
Werner Enterprises, Swift Transportation, JBS Transports, Covenant Transport, Schneider National Carriers, Navajo and US Express will all be pre-hiring new driver trainees at the Trucking Career Fair.
In as little as three weeks, new students can be trained and ready to start work at one of these great carriers. New drivers can earn more than $35,000 in their first year, and more than $45,000 in their second year. And because of the demand for drivers, each of these carriers will help pay for the students’ training costs with tuition reimbursement.
When asked why so many motor carriers decided to partner with US Truck Driving School, the answer was the same – quality students. “US Truck does a great job of preparing their students to enter the career.”
With over 20,000 graduates, US Truck Driving School is by far Colorado’s largest driver training program. For more information about how you can become pre-hired, and what it takes to get started, contact US Truck today at 800-809-2150 or visit the web at www.ustruck.com.
