SHELBYVILLE, Ky. — The Republican nominee for Kentucky governor has criticized Democratic incumbent Steve Beshear for participating in a Hindu ceremony that marked an Indian company’s entry into the state. Republican David Williams suggested that Beshear — the son and grandson of Baptist preachers — engaged in idolatry by taking part in the event.
