The DaVinci Institute announced award winners of the seventh annual DaVinci Inventor Showcase held Saturday. Inventor of the Year Award went to Dan Hobson, Ross Nanotechnology Corp. for NeverWet, a super hydrophobic coating that repels water and heavy oils. Commercial Product of the Year Award, Daryl Oster of Evacuated Tube Transport Technologies, for a transportation technology that is faster and more efficient than jets. Consumer Product of the Year Award, Francisco Garcia, Klinggon for a magnetic earphone cord holder. Software Product of the Year Award, Eric May, CoKnown, a collaborative, cloud based, research platform. Food & Drink Product of the Year Award to Nancy Mercanti, Herbs Unlimited Inc. for a process to “fast freeze” and package chopped herbs. Honorable mentions went to Dave & Valerie Marshall, Leash Locket, a retractable dog leash designed to snap to a magnetic collar attachment; Brian Trang, Gadget Feet, a compact portable electronic device stand; and to Larry Pliley, Portavise, a portable vise that allows for mobility and flexibility.
