A driver allegedly passing a truck in a no-passing zone struck a car head-on, killing himself and the other driver Saturday night on Weld County Road 49, the Colorado State Patrol reported.

The driver of a Subaru was heading south on County Road 49 near County Road 40 south of Kersey when he crossed double yellow lines on a hill and collided with a Mercury sedan, Trooper Nate Reid said. One of the vehicles then spun into a Chevy pickup, whose driver suffered minor injuries.

Two male passengers in the Subaru and the driver of the Chevy were taken — one by helicopter and two by ambulance — to North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
