PEORIA, Ariz.—Authorities say a Colorado man is in custody for allegedly having sexual contact with a teenage girl in Arizona.
Police in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria say 37-year-old Jose Sanchez was arrested Saturday. He’s being held on suspicion of luring a minor for sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, sexual conduct with a minor and molestation.
Police say Sanchez allegedly lured the then 14-year-old girl to a private online chat room where they communicated for about a month and then planned to meet in person.
They say Sanchez made at least three trips to Peoria from Brighton, Colo., between June and August. He allegedly engaged in sexual contact with the girl on each trip.
The girl, now 15, eventually told her mother who notified police. It’s unclear whether Sanchez has a lawyer.
