Louisville-based renewable-energy company Sundrop Fuels will build a $450 million biofuels refinery in central Louisiana.
The project announced by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Sundrop chief executive Wayne Simmons will bring 150 new jobs and an estimated 1,150 indirect jobs to the region.
The plant will harvest wood waste from forests near Alexandria and adjacent regions and use that biomass as a feedstock for making gasoline.
In July, a Sundrop spokesman told The Denver Post that the company was in discussions with “several states” on where to build the plant but that Colorado wasn’t one of them.
