GREELEY, Colo.—A Greeley caregiver accused of stealing more than $4,000 from a 101-year-old woman by using her credit cards has been sentenced to 18 months of work release, with credit for time served.

A judge also sentenced 28-year-old Adrienne Stagner on Wednesday to four years in a female offender program as part of a sentence that would allow Stagner to receive treatment for substance abuse and to pay restitution.

Stagner pleaded guilty in October to identity theft and one count of violating the terms of a deferred sentence for possession of methamphetamine in 2010.

She was arrested after the victim’s grandson noticed unusual transactions on his grandmother’s credit card.

The Greeley Tribune reports ( ) Stagner told the judge Wednesday that her actions resulted from an addiction to methamphetamine.
