GREELEY, Colo.—Eli Miller and Ben Sanderford each ran for two touchdowns Saturday as the Dayspring Christian Eagles erased a 15-point deficit to beat the defending state champion Hoehne Farmers 29-22 in the Class A 8-man title game.
Trailing 22-7 just before halftime, No. 2 Dayspring (13-0) managed a goal-line stand at its 3-yard line. During the drive, top-ranked Hoehne (12-1) lost its best running back, Martin Waln, who finished with 91 yards and two TDs. Waln appeared to have injured his left leg.
The Eagles then marched 97 yards, scoring on a 21-yard Miller run with 33 seconds left. His 2-point conversion drew Dayspring within 22-15 at the break.
Dayspring scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to end Hoehne’s state-best 25-game winning streak.
