Road crews and law enforcement expect a tricky but manageable morning commute today if motorists leave early and go slow.
State and local snowplows were expected to be out after midnight to keep roads and bridges clear, as the snowstorm was expected to drop up to 10 inches in the mountains and 4 inches on Denver for the morning commute.
Another 4 inches could fall in the metro area this morning before snowfall lightens up at about 11 a.m, according to the National Weather Service.
Wind gusts of more than 30 mph and temperatures in the 20s could leave patches of ice, road departments warned.
The Colorado Department of Transportation will have a fleet of plows, ice- slicer and de-icing trucks operating around the clock until the storm passes.
The most current road conditions are available on CDOT’s website, .
Temperatures in Denver are expected to rebound into the mid-30s Friday before a chance for more snow Friday night and a forecast low of 9 degrees Saturday.
