EGYPT: Brotherhood leader says he doesn’t want power struggle.

The leader of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamist group expected to dominate the country’s next parliament, said it does not seek to get into a power struggle with the ruling military council over the formation of the next government. Egypt’s military is insisting that it — not the parliament — will choose the next prime minister and his Cabinet. “We must live in harmony, not only with the military council, but with all of Egypt’s factions, or else the conclusion is zero,” Brotherhood leader Mohammed Badie said in an interview.

Armed residents of the Libyan capital have until the end of December to hand over weapons to authorities, said Abdel-Rafik Bu Hajjar, head of Tripoli’s city council, on Tuesday. The uncontrolled ownership of weapons has been a major security concern since the end of the eight-month civil war.
