Open water along the Front Range is mostly gone; a few larger reservoirs and tail waters are about it. While some metro ponds allow ice fishing, hold off a couple of weeks to avoid thin ice. North Park waters have 5-6 inches of ice and are fishing well with small jigs. Antero’s ice is nearing 4 inches or more in places. Watch for thin ice. Dillon is mostly open, but the Snake River inlet is capped. Good kokanee fishing — try tube jigs tipped with shrimp. Red Feather’s Dowdy and West Lakes have outstanding fishing. Although most fish are small, everything is working.
