FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A man shot by Fort Collins police after he reached for a gun replica that shoots plastic pellets has been arrested at the hospital on suspicion of felony menacing and obstructing a peace officer.

Police on Sunday arrested 41-year-old Scott Mendias at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, where he had been recuperating after being shot in the stomach Nov. 25.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan () Mendias refused to obey officers’ commands and was shot in the stomach after throwing a plastic fireman’s hat he was wearing on the ground and reaching for a fake gun.
