Steamboat Springs Police Department officers caught up with three horseback riders who reportedly left the scene of a disturbance at Old Town Pub on Sunday night, and one of the riders was arrested after police said he became physically combative.
Police Sgt. John McCartin said officers located the horseback riders by the railroad track near the Depot Art Center at about 10 p.m. and arrested Steamboat Springs resident Michael Joseph Miller. McCartin said police used a Taser on Miller, 44, after he repeatedly ignored commands from the officers. Miller was arrested on suspicion of harassment, disorderly conduct, obstructing a police officer and resisting arrest. McCartin said Miller was evaluated by paramedics at the scene because a Taser was used, and he was cleared to be taken into custody.
Calls to the Old Town Pub were not immediately returned late Sunday night. A photo sent to the Steamboat Pilot & Today showed a woman on a horse inside the pub at about the time of the reported disturbance. Other readers have reported that the horses and their riders also were seen at Safeway and Sunpie’s Bistro on Sunday.
