Colorado Springs police said today a photographer who worked at middle schools and dance studios has been arrested on child-sex charges.
Glen Owen Godec, 46, is free on $50,000 bond after his arrest on Dec. 6 on allegations he showed pornography to an 11-year-old and “engaged in repeated sexual contact with the child,” police said.
During the investigation, police allegedly found child pornography involving the victim and the victim’s younger sister. The age and gender of the first victim were not released.
Because Godec took photos at schools and dance studios, police asked parents of children who might have had inappropriate contact with Godec to call investigators at 719-444-7640.
Court records show Godec has a lengthy criminal history, including charges of assault, fraud, theft, numerous traffic offenses and domestic violence. The latter charge resulted in a restraining order against Godec in 2004.
In 2005, he was sentenced to 90 days in jail, 90 days of work-release, two years of probation and 100 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to impersonating a police officer in Colorado Springs to gain a benefit, after he was pulled over after running a red light, court records indicate.
According to his LinkedIn page, Godec is the owner of Godec’s Auctions, which he characterized as a photography business, as well as being an online eBay store.
He also has been affiliated with Godec’s Camera & Photo Supply in the past, online business records indicate.
Public records indicate Godec moved from Colorado Springs to Louisville last year and has previously lived in Denver and Boulder.
