Standoff ends after Garfield County deputy fired on at home near Glenwood Springs

A person barricaded in a home south of Glenwood Springs fired on a Garfield County Sheriff’s deputy this afternoon, authorities said.

No one was injured in the incident at 4:10 p.m., according to the Sheriff’s Department.

According to an update issued at about 7:30 p.m., the person inside had been taken into custody, but no other details, including the person’s name and gender, were released.

The deputy had been called to check on a resident at the home on Westbank Road in the Westbank Ranch subdivision.

Residents in the area were notified to stay in their homes in a safe location, away from windows or in their basements.

In the 7:28 p.m. update, residents were told they would be allowed to leave home or return in the next half hour, according to a statement from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department.
