Metro State, the No. 1-ranked men’s basketball team in NCAA Division II, improved to 10-0 overall and 5-0 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Saturday with a 78-71 victory over Regis in Denver. Regis fell to 3-6 overall and 0-5 in the RMAC.

The Roadrunners finished with four players in double-figure scoring, led by Demetris Miller’s game-high 22 points. Reggie Evans scored 19 points and Brandon Jefferson contributed 16.

The Roadrunners’ Jonathan Morse finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds, including 10 boards in the second half.

Metro State trailed 37-34 at halftime. Red-hot Regis hit 14-of-21 shots in the first half, keeping the Roadrunners behind. Metro State also was outrebounded in the first half 14-10.

But the second half belonged to Metro State. The Roadrunners went on a 17-5 run with just over 11 minutes remaining in the game. Metro State outrebounded Regis 26-15 in the second half and held the Rangers to 41 percent shooting from the field.

The Roadrunners are idle until Dec. 30, when they play Colorado Mines.

 Freshman Todd Mayo replaced suspended star Darius Johnson-Odom in the starting lineup and scored 22 points to lead the Golden Eagles.

Jae Crowder added 19 points and 11 rebounds for Marquette (10-0), which moved to 10-0 for the first time in a decade and seventh time in school history.

Marquette led 47-30 at halftime and expanded its advantage to 53-32 before Northern Colorado put together a 15-3 run to pull within nine on Unruh’s putback with 13:11 left.

But the Bears couldn’t get any closer.

  Julie Seabrook recorded her third career double-double as the Buffaloes (9-0) remained undefeated with a victory over the Wildcats (2-10).



Metro State 70, Regis 64.  Jasmine Cervantes scored a game-high 19 points, leading the Roadrunners (9-0, 5-0 RMAC) to a win over the Rangers (5-6, 3-2) to remain undefeated.
