Fort Collins released a sketch of a man accused of hitting a man in the face after leaving a bar where he was celebrating his 25th birthday.

At 2:53 a.m. on Sept. 2, the victim and his friends left the bars in Old Town, according to a news release from Fort Collins Police Services.

The victim, who was drunk, walked to the intersection of Mathews and East Olive Street where he sat down to rest. A man approached him and said he was a Fort Collins police officer.

The suspect later admitted that he was not a police officer but wanted to make sure everyone got home safe. A fight broke out and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for facial injuries.

Officers interviews witnesses and people involved in the incident, but have not been able to identify the suspect.

The suspect was described as being clean-shaven, in his 20s, about 6 feet tall with a muscular build and blond hair.
