DENVER—An attorney who served as counsel on President Barack Obama’s task force that reviewed detainees held at Guantanamo has been tapped to be Attorney General John Suthers’ legal policy and governmental affairs director.
David Blake replaces Geoff Blue, who left for private practice. The senior staff position works with lawmakers on policy issues of interest to the attorney general, as well as other cases. Suthers announced Blake’s appointment Wednesday.
Blake, a professor at the George Mason University School of Law, worked for the U.S. Attorney General’s Office between 1996 and 2010 in various roles in that office’s Civil Division, National Security Division, as well as serving as counsel on Obama’s Guantanamo Detainee Review Task Force. Blake joined Suthers’ office last year as assistant solicitor general.
