GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A Grand Junction man is accused of using a sword to attack his roommate.

Thirty-year-old Richard Allen Ries appeared in court Wednesday and is being held on $60,000 bail at the Mesa County Detention Center. An officer who responded to a call Tuesday and found a man bleeding from his face. The Daily Sentinel reports ( ) investigators say the roommate, Matt Sanderson, suffered a disfiguring cut that separated his jawbone and broke teeth.

According to an arrest affidavit, Sanderson told police Ries struck him with a sword.

Police say they found two swords, one with blood on the blade, a pair of nunchakus, a baseball bat and a kitchen knife stuck in a bedroom wall when they arrested Ries.

Jail officials did not have an attorney listed for Ries.
