DURANGO, Colo.—An avalanche has fallen onto part of U.S. 550 in southwestern Colorado.
The slide temporarily closed the highway over Red Mountain Pass highway Friday night, but the road reopened within two hours. There were no immediate reports of any vehicles being trapped.
The Colorado Department of Transportation says the 10-foot slide had been reported to be blocking 90 percent of the roadway.
