Joe Bodolai, a former “Saturday Night Live” writer, has died of an apparent suicide, the Los Angeles Times reported. He was 63.
Coroner’s officials told the Times that Bodolai was found dead Tuesday in a Los Angeles hotel. Bottles of antifreeze and Gatorade were found in the room, the Times reported.
More details were not available, but there was no indication of foul play, officials said.
Bodolai worked on “SNL” in 1981 and 1982, co-wrote the first draft of the “Wayne’s World” film and produced the first two seasons of the Canadian sketch-comedy show “The Kids in the Hall.”
He posted a final, heart- wrenching note titled “If this were your last day alive, what would you do?” on his blog.
Under the subtitle “Things I Regret,” Bodolai listed his “inability to conquer my alcoholism” and “the pain I have caused and am now causing my sons and the love of my life, my ex-wife Bianca.” He listed many items under “Things I Am Proud Of,” including his family and his professional achievements.
