A man arrested Thursday night in Colorado Springs on suspicion of unlawful possession and use of explosive devices has been identified as 57-year-old Edward Kiley.
Police arrested Kiley after neighbors reported hearing several loud explosions coming from a house Thursday night.
Kiley is being held on a bond of $250,000.
About eight homes were evacuated Friday morning as about 50 law enforcement officials, including a bomb squad and federal Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive agents cleared explosives from the house on the northwest corner of Vermijo Avenue and Prospect Street.
As of 4 p.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department said in a released statement that law enforcement has been able to remove “numerous improvised explosive devises,” but still has more work to complete.
Residents will be allowed to return to their homes this evening. Two officers will remain on site to protect the scene and the residents.
Crews will return to continue the clean up Saturday morning.
