A high wind warning will be in effect once again tomorrow morning for most of the state.

According to the National Weather Service, high winds will develop late tonight along the Front Range and the foothills and then quickly fan eastward throughout the morning.

The High Wind Warning will be staggered by area. It starts at midnight for parts of Summit, Grand, Boulder and Park counties. It doesn’t start until 8 a.m. for most of the eastern half of the state including along the entire Interstate 25 corridor from the Wyoming border south to the New Mexico border, and the Interstate 70 corridor to the Kansas border.

The warning will expire at 5 p.m. for mountain areas, and the Denver metro area, but will last until 7 p.m. for northeast Weld county, and Logan, Washington, Sedgwick and Phillips counties.

The strongest winds are expected between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The warning anticipates high winds between 30 and 45 mph, with gusts of up to 70 mph that will create blowing snow conditions in the mountains, and blowing dust conditions on the plains, both reducing visibility to zero in some spots.

The weather service also warns that broken tree limbs and some power outages are likely, and advises semitrailer truck drivers to delay their trips until the winds die down.

On Thursday fierce winds were to blame for several accidents, including one fatal accident.

A driver died in a single-vehicle crash on I-70 near Loveland Pass late Thursday morning in the eastbound lanes of the highway, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The vehicle struck an embankment and landed on its roof, killing the driver.

Later that evening, at least three empty cargo trailers were reported overturned by wind gusts estimated at more than 100 mph at Table Mesa Parkway and 45th Drive northeast of Golden.

In Denver the winds won’t bring down the temperatures much, with a high expected on Saturday around 48 degrees.
