A longtime Walt Disney Co. executive who worked to ensure animal safety on television shows and other programs is the new dean of Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Dr. Mark Stetter is director of animal operations at Walt Disney Co. Stetter will begin his job as dean in May. Stetter is replacing Dr. Lance Perryman, retiring as dean of the college since October 2001.

Before joining Disney in 1997, Stetter was a veterinarian with the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Animal Health Center in several New York facilities, including the Bronx and Central Park zoos and the New York Aquarium.
