
The National Western Stock Show Parade begins at noon today at Union Station and marches 14 blocks down 17th Street to celebrate Saturday’s opening of the 16-day annual show.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock Wednesday declared today “Dress Western Day” in the city, encouraging downtown workers, visitors and others to show their cowtown spirit.
The parade features a longhorn cattle drive through Denver’s business district, with rodeo queens, clowns, floats, antique tractors and more to honor Denver’s cowtown roots.
The 106th National Western Stock Stock Show & Rodeo opens at 9 a.m. Saturday at the National Western Complex at Interstate 70 and Brighton Boulevard.

Also today is the National Western Barbecue in the atrium of the Wells Fargo Building at 1700 Broadway. Serving starts at 11:30 a.m., and the $9 price benefits 4-H International.
