The Garfield County commissioners, in a surprise move Tuesday, fired longtime County Manager Ed Green after he had been on the job nearly 14 years.
Following an executive session to discuss the county manager’s contract, the commissioners emerged shortly before noon and voted unanimously to terminate Green’s contract.
“Ed was let go without cause,” County Commissioner Tom Jankovsky said during a midday break in the regular Garfield Board of County Commissioners meeting.
