The Loveland Housing Authority has purchased 4-1/2 acres of land at the former Crystal Rapids Water Park site, where it plans to build affordable housing for east-Loveland workers.

In a statement released Tuesday afternoon, the Housing Authority of the City of Loveland said it expects to break ground in the summer of 2013.

“Our goal is to create quality, energy-efficient workforce housing targeted primarily at employees of Centerra and the outlet mall,” Sam Betters, executive director of the Housing Authority, said in the press release. “Our intent is to bring additional affordable housing options close to where those employees work.”
