FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Authorities searched Monday for a man suspected of holding a 73-year-old woman and her husband hostage at their home, then forcing her to try to rob a bank with what she thought was a bomb strapped to her ankle.
Betty Davis told bank employees about the device, and authorities were able to safely evacuate the building before a bomb squad could remove it, police said. It was being tested to determine if it is dangerous.
Deputies dispatched to the Davis home found her husband tied up but unharmed.
