A family was displaced after a house fire in Denver early this morning.

Around 2:34 a.m., crews were called to a home in the 1800 block of South Quitman Street, said Phil Champagne, spokesman for the Denver Fire Department.

Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the blaze. The family made it safely out of the home.

Two animals were reportedly in the house when the fire started. The condition of the animals was not immediately known.

The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation, Champagne said.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
