DENVER—Colorado agriculture officials say the proposed closing of two southern Colorado Farm Service Agency offices will not have a major impact on agriculture in the region.
The federal offices in Walsenburg, Monte Vista and Longmont are being targeted in Colorado, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The department announced Monday it is considering closing 259 offices, facilities and labs across the country, as well as seven foreign offices.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports ( ) the agency will hold a public meeting in each affected county later this month to allow farmers and ranchers have a chance to comment on the proposal.
