A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a gun burglar who has stolen firearms from two businesses in northern Colorado.
Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives along with police in Fort Collins and Loveland believe the same person is responsible.
The first burglary was on Dec. 11 at Dick’s Sporting Goods in the Promenade Shops at Centerra in Loveland. The burglar smashed a window around 10:45 p.m., broke security padlocks and took two Remington rifles.
The latest incident was Dec. 17 at Sports Authority in Ford Collins.
The burglar forced his way into a locked back door, cut security cabled around the firearms and stole five rifles at about 4:20 a.m.
Agents are looking for a suspect with a medium or stocky build who was wearing dark clothing.
The firearms stolen include a Bushmaster XM15-E2S rifle, a Colt M4 Carbine rifle, a Heckler & Koch MP5 Carbine rifle, two Smith & Wesson M&P rifles and two Remington R-15 VTR Predator rifles.
