LONE TREE, Colo.—Authorities have dismissed child abuse charges against a Denver police officer and his wife after authorities determined the parents gave their baby water instead of an alcoholic drink.

The Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office is calling it a misunderstanding after a witness told Lone Tree police last August that Jeremy and Amy Olive gave their baby a sip from a margarita glass.

Marc Colin, attorney for the parents, said Tuesday police should have conducted a more thorough investigation. He said the charges hurt his clients’ reputation.
