After watching the comeback of Broncos’ quarterback Tim Tebow against the Chicago Bears Dec. 11, a woman said she was inspired to donate $5,000 in his name to the Knights of Columbus Ultrasound Program for crisis-pregnancy centers.

“We all know that Tim Tebow’s mother was advised to abort him due to an illness she had while she was pregnant, but she chose not to,” said donor Christine Beiriger. Pam Tebow “put her trust in God and, as a result, brought into the world one of the finest human beings ever to play the game — and one who is a role model and inspiration to the multitudes.”

The Knights of Columbus, a Catholic charitable fraternity, launched an initiative in 2009 to help provide women considering abortion the technology to first view the life within them. The Knights provide funding for pregnancy centers to purchase ultrasound machines that can create “sonograms” or pictures of a baby in a woman’s uterus.

The organization claims that their experience indicates that up to 90 percent of women in centers report that seeing their baby’s head and fingers — and hearing the heartbeat — influenced them to give birth to the baby rather than have an abortion.

Beiriger is the daughter of Mike Beiriger, coordinator of the Knights of Columbus State Council’s Ultrasound Program.
