STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Steamboat Springs’ 2011 sales tax collections exceeded those collected in 2010 by 4.3 percent, according to a preliminary December report released Wednesday by the city.
Collections last year exceeded $17.3 million, more than $700,000 beyond 2010 collections and significantly higher than the 2011 forecast. The city budgeted sales tax revenue to decrease 10 percent last year.
Sales tax collections in December 2011 exceeded those in December 2010 by 3.2 percent. It was the eighth consecutive month and ninth time in 2011 that sales tax collections exceeded those from the corresponding month in 2010.
