DENVER—The Colorado State Patrol says it benched 25 dash cameras used to videotape motorists because they often failed to work.

Spokesman Nate Reid says the patrol now has no cameras, even though the department would like to have them for protection of the public and its troopers.

According to KMGH-TV ( ), Aurora, Boulder and Douglas County are the only agencies in the Denver metro area that have the cameras, which cost about $5,000 each.
