Former U.S. Sen. Bill Armstrong underwent a successful surgery for bladder cancer on Wednesday.
Armstrong, the current president of Colorado Christian University, is recovering at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora today, according to a news release from the university.
Following the surgery, doctors gave Armstrong and his family an encouraging outlook for a complete recovery.
“The Armstrong family is grateful to Bill’s many friends and admirers for the outpouring of support and prayers in recent days,” the release said.
Armstrong was named president of CCU in June 2006. He served in the U.S. Senate from 1978 to 1990.
