DENVER—The Colorado House approved a Republican bill that would keep an agency’s regulations in place for a business during the entire application process.
Republicans have highlighted the bill as one of a package of proposals they say are aimed at reducing regulatory burdens on businesses to grow the economy. GOP lawmakers say the bill is needed because agency rules can change suddenly during an application process and businesses have to withdraw applications and resubmit to comply.
House Bill 1002 now goes to the Democratic-controlled Senate for consideration.
Republican bill sponsor Rep. Jerry Sonnenberg says that businesses have told lawmakers that refiling applications is a costly process.
