DENVER—About a third of flights into and out of Denver have been canceled because of the snow storm hitting Colorado.

Airport officials say nearly 600 flights were canceled Friday.

That includes about 100 flights canceled by Southwest Airlines. The airline scratched all of its flights into and out of Denver through 4 p.m. MT to mitigate the impact of the storm on its operations elsewhere across the country. It will re-evaluate what do to about the rest of the day’s flights later.

Ten flights from Colorado Springs that connect to other flights at DIA were also canceled.

Delays are also expected since planes need to be deiced before taking off.
