Getting your player ready...

Ober is the snow safety director at Arapahoe Basin, where he has skied for 14 of his 21 years on snow. A few of his favorite things:

Favorite run: Anything in the Books, Chugach Range, Alaska.

Most rewarding part of the job: Getting terrain open so people can get ripping.

Best safety tip: Trust the ski patrol and respect the closed trails as closed. There is always a good reason for the trail being closed, whether there is a hazard in there you are unaware of or the avalanche control work isn’t done yet and the slope is unstable. Bottom line is we want it open as badly as you do!
