A 38-year-old man convicted of fondling an 8-year-old boy in the restroom of a Sheridan Target store was sentenced Thursday to three years to life in prison, according to the Arapahoe District Attorney’s Office.
In December, a jury deliberated for about two hours before finding David Lee Rigoulot of Denver guilty of sex assault on a child and false imprisonment.
Court records indicate he was given credit for 487 days of time he has already served awaiting Thursday’s sentencing.
Prosecutors said Rigoulot locked the door behind himself when he went into the restroom in October 2010, and despite the boy’s efforts to fight him off, “Rigoulot opened the boy’s legs and touched his genitals,” the district attorney’s office stated Thursday.
With surveillance tape and a check written by a woman he was with. the Sheridan Police Department found Rigoulot, who admitted being in the restroom stall with the boy and to touching the boy on the leg, but denied touching his genitals, prosecutors said.
