 A man was injured on Sunday night in a house explosion in the Boulder foothills.

The explosion happened at about 7:40 p.m. on Baxter Street in Ward, according to a Boulder County Sheriff’s Office media release.

A 37-year-old man was injured in the explosion and was taken to Boulder Community Hospital to be treated for minor injuries, the sheriff’s office said. Further details on his condition were not available.

Two children in the home were not injured.

The victim told invetigators he had smelled propane “and when he went to ignite a gas water heater, there was an explosion and fire.”

The home sustained “significant” damage.
