DENVER—Lawmakers drawing up the state budget have approved a $29 million cut for higher education next year.

According to the Denver Post ( ), the General Assembly’s Joint Budget Committee on Monday set aside $490 million for colleges and universities.

The plan now moves to the Appropriations Committee, where it will be open for discussion.
